Craig Patterson is the Operations Manager at KDA Group in Bowral. This boutique accounting service firm doesn’t occupy an enormous amount of floor space, but its electricity bills pre-solar were very high. The managerial team was determined to get these down and did quite a lot of research into what sort of system was going to work best for them before making a commitment.

Being numbers-oriented, both Craig and his manager – Director Kevin Dunlop – were keen to get a system that would deliver maximum return on investment, given the roof space wasn’t huge. They opted for premium panel and inverter technology, even though they had previously been approached by a number of companies soliciting cheaper components.
“As accountants, we do numbers all the time. While it was appealing to get a slightly quicker payback on a cheaper system, we discussed the matter and agreed that it’s worthwhile paying a bit more upfront and then getting that back over a longer period of time, rather than saving dollars now and then replacing it in a much shorter time frame,” says Patterson. “Especially given we’re based in Bowral, where we get our fair share of lowlight days.”
The Energy Experts had the confidence the system that their team installed would deliver the results the accounting firm was looking for. KDA installed a 29kW system on their available roof space, using LG panels and a Fronius inverter. They haven’t looked back.
Craig says: “We’ve seen a sizeable reduction in our quarterly bills. Winter can be tricky, as our air-conditioning usage is constant and the days of course are shorter, but the rest of the year, it makes a big dent in the bills.”
