The Clean Energy Council (CEC) is the peak body for renewable energy in Australia.
When you choose a CEC-Approved Solar Retailer, you’re assured they adhere to an ethical Code of Conduct in all aspects of their business and that they meet significantly higher standards than other solar companies.
The benefits of choosing a CEC-Approved Solar Retailer
When you buy a solar power system from a CEC-Approved Solar Retailer – like The Energy Experts – you know you’re dealing with a company that operates with integrity and is committed to an end-to-end customer service experience.
To be accepted as an Approved Solar Retailer, companies must provide clear and comprehensive documentation on their pre-sale and post-sale processes, installation practices, complaints handling procedures and adherence to extensive compliance regulations. Applicants also have to undergo an integrity and financial check by an external party.
Provide you with a system performance assessment
We’ll calculate the number of peak sunlight hours in your area, based on the Clean Energy Council’s calculations and then factor in your specific roof. Based on shade or any other environmental conditions, we’ll provide a performance estimate that complies with the CEC’s Guidelines.
Give you a 5-year whole-of-system guarantee
As an Approved Solar Retailer, all our installations come with a 5 year whole-of-system warranty. This means that if, in the first 5 years, your system isn’t performing as we forecast, we’ll assess it to find out why. We will also fix any issues and replace any defective parts – at our cost.
Commit to customer service and after-sales support
It’s estimated that, since 2011, more than one in three solar systems in Australia have been ‘orphaned’ by solar companies who fail to honour warranties or are no longer in business. When this happens, the solar system owners receive no after-sales support if anything goes wrong.
CEC-approved solar retailers are committed to providing outstanding after-sales support and are more likely to run sustainable businesses that won’t go belly up. When you buy a solar power system through an Approved Solar Retailer, you’re less likely to become a solar orphan.
How do you know if you’re using a CEC-approved solar retailer?
An Approved Solar Retailer shouldn’t be confused with an accredited solar installer. There are nearly 8,000 accredited solar installers across Australia, but only 1,266 are CEC-Approved Solar Retailers (at the time of publication). Accredited installers are individual technicians, while Approved Solar Retailers are companies. To know if a solar retailer is approved by the CEC, look for the official logo and check the CEC website to confirm.
